Sligh inducted into Delta State University Student Hall of Fame

Haley Ferris SlighHaley Ferris Sligh, a biology pre-physical therapy graduate
from Bentonia was inducted into the Delta State University Student Hall of Fame. Sligh is a member of the Student Alumni Association, Wesley Foundation, Alpha Epsilon Delta, Sigma Delta Pi and Omicron Delta Kappa. She was a two-term vice president of the Student Government Association, president of the SGA Senate and served as a Delta Diplomat and orientation group leader.

Sligh was a Delta State cheerleader and was Diamond Girl Team Captain. She is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and served as president, vice president and membership education chair. She received the KD White Rose Award and Chapter, and Pan-Hellenic Model New Member. Sligh is a member of Order of Omega and received the KD Foundation Griffin and Sonny Blakeman Scholarships. She was a 2008 Homecoming Maid and was elected Homecoming Queen for 2010.

A Dean’s List Scholar, Sligh was selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She is the daughter of Mary Jane and Kim Sligh.

The Hall of Fame was begun in 1972 to recognize outstanding students. It is the single highest honor bestowed upon any Delta State University student based on outstanding accomplishments in all phases of college life. A maximum of eight students comprise the Student Hall of Fame each year. The selection is made by a committee of students, faculty, and staff appointed by university deans and vice-presidents.

The annual Hall of Fame Banquet and induction ceremony is sponsored by the Student Alumni Association and the Student Government Association.
