Davis inducted into Delta State University Student Hall of Fame

Micah Glenn DavisMicah Glenn Davis, a chemistry-pre-med student from Wesson who graduated in December 2010, was inducted into the Delta State University 2010-11 Student Hall of Fame. Davis is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Epsilon Delta, and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Societies. He was awarded Delta State’s Second Diploma, presented to the two-year graduating senior with the highest grade point average (4.0).

An outstanding athlete, Davis was quarterback and captain of the 2010 National Champion Runner-up Statesman football team. He received the Division II Elite 88 Award, along with the 2010 National Championship Leadership Award. Davis was named NCAA Division II offensive player of the week and Gulf South Conference of player of the week  He was named to the Gulf South Conference All Academic team and CoSIDA /Verizon, Inc. Academic All-Region team, and received the H.L. Halbrook Leadership Award.

A Dean’s and President’s List Scholar, Davis  was selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. He is the son of Minta and Glenn Davis.

The Hall of Fame was begun in 1972 to recognize outstanding students. It is the single highest honor bestowed upon any Delta State University student based on outstanding accomplishments in all phases of college life. A maximum of eight students comprise the Student Hall of Fame each year. The selection is made by a committee of students, faculty, and staff appointed by university deans and vice-presidents.

The annual Hall of Fame Banquet and induction ceremony is sponsored by the Student Alumni Association and the Student Government Association.
