Delta State’s Library recognized by Government Printing Office

By April 4, 2011General

The Roberts-LaForge Library at Delta State University has been chosen by the Government Printing Office (GPO) as the “Depository Library Spotlight” for the month of April.

As one of only eleven federal depositories in Mississippi, and the only one in the Mississippi Delta, Roberts-LaForge Library strives to provide free and open access to government information disseminated by GPO’s Federal Depository Library Program. This unit, commonly referred to as the FDLP, protects the public’s right to know by distributing government publications in print and electronic formats to a network of over 1,200 depositories throughout the country.

While government documents typically convey the workings and activity of the federal government, they also promote civic awareness and provide authoritative information on many topical issues such as the recent Gulf oil spill, the Iraq War, and Hurricane Katrina, just to name a few.
