Delta State choirs to present spring concert

Delta State University’s Department of Music will present its spring choir concert, featuring the Chamber Singers, Chorale, and Delta Singers, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 28, at First United Methodist Church in Cleveland.

The choirs are under the direction of Dr. Richard Waters, director of choral activities, and will be accompanied by Dr. Mark Butler, professor of music, Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, assistant professor of music, and Christopher Winston, a junior music major from Fairhope, Ala. The performance will feature music by J. S. Bach, David Conte, William Dawson, Herbert Howells, Moses Hogan, Joseph Martin, Andrew Owen, Stephen Paulus, and others.

Recordings of the Delta State choirs, including their newest CD, “O Sing Joyfully,” will be available for purchase before and after the concert. Donations will also be graciously accepted for the Chorale’s trip to New York in April 2012 to perform at Carnegie Hall.
