The Delta State University choral program announces the release of their sixth compact disc – "O Sing Joyfully” – recorded by the Delta State Chorale under the direction of Dr. Richard Waters, director of Choral Activities.
The recording features music by a wide variety of composers, including Eric Barnum, Johannes Brahms, Ola Gjeilo, Moses Hogan, Morten Lauridsen, Steven Sametz, Richard Waters, and Eric Whitacre. The choir is accompanied on several pieces by Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, assistant professor of piano. The CD features pieces from two recording sessions in Kent Wyatt Hall, as well as other selections recorded live in concert in 2010 and 2011.
Proceeds from the sale of these recordings will be used to help fund the Chorale’s April 2012 trip to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall.
