Delta State’s Continuing Education to offer an exciting new line-up of classes in March

Delta State University Continuing Education will be offering an exciting new line-up of classes that will engage everyone during the upcoming weeks that will include several new classes such as Adult Hip Hop (Beginner/Intermediate), Adult Jazz (Beginner/Intermediate), Cooking with Cam (formerly Lunch & Learn), and a canoe trip down the Mississippi River.

Cooking with Cam (Formerly Lunch & Learn):
Join Dr. Cam McMillen as she demonstrates how to prepare meat, seafood, and vegetable lasagnas that are sure to please every palate. A demonstration of food preparation, useful tips, and recipes will be provided along with a delicious lunch. The class is scheduled for Friday, March 25, at noon in the Ada Swindle Mitchell Food Lab in Ewing Hall on the campus. Cost is $15 per person and $25 for two.

Mississippi River Canoe Trip: An Exploration of the Forgotten Delta
Join Geography Professor Dr. Mark Bonta and John Ruskey, of Quapaw Canoe Company, as they lead you on a historical exploration of the Mississippi River from Hurricane Point to Terrene Landing.  This trip is open for non-credit and CEU credit interest. The voyage will be held Saturday, March 26, from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.  Cost for this one day trip is $100, additional wet-suit charge of $35 may be added due to weather conditions. Travel from the Cleveland and Clarksdale area will be provided. No Experience Needed!

Adult Jazz (Beginner/Intermediate):
After warming up, students will delve into longer combinations and across-the-floor material that explores turns, jumps, rhythm, and style. Emily Tschiffely, experienced dancer/choreographer, will instruct this class from 1 – 2:15 p.m., on Mondays, March 28 – May 02. This class will meet in Room 100A of the H. L. Nowell Union on the campus. Cost is $60 per person which includes all six sessions.

Adult Hip Hop (Beginner/Intermediate):
Come be a part of an exploration into hip hop dancing that includes dropped weight movement, isolations, mixed meter physicality, pop & lock, break beats, and tricks. Emily Tschiffely, experienced dancer/choreographer, will instruct this class from 6:45 to 8 p.m., on Wednesdays, March 30 – May 04.  This class will meet in Room 100A of the H. L. Nowell Union on the campus. Cost is $60 per person which includes all six sessions.
