Delta State University’s Child Development Center was among four Mississippi facilities chosen for participation in a professional development initiative called, “Bridges to Quality: The Mississippi Early Childhood Professional Development Project.”

The Center was selected as a filming site for the multimedia demonstrations due to the program’s commitment to provide quality care and education as evidenced by the attainment of a four-star (out of five) rating with the Mississippi Child Care Quality Step System and becoming accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

This project is funded by a grant awarded to the Mississippi State University (MSU) Early Childhood Institute (ECI) to strengthen and expand professional development opportunities for early childhood practitioners in Mississippi. The project is directed by Elizabeth F. Shores, M.A.H.P.  “Bridges to Quality” will create an online library of multimedia demonstrations of key child care skills for use by instructors, trainers, and coaches. The project will also involve several related studies of how to improve access to credential and degree programs for child care workers as well as the success of practitioners in those programs.
