Delta novelist Culpepper Webb featured Thacker guest

Culpepper WebbLeland native Culpepper Webb, author of the novel Lifted From The Waters, will be the featured literary guest on the upcoming Thacker Mountain – Delta Edition radio show to be broadcast live at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 5, from Studio A at the Delta Music Institute (DMI) at Delta State University.

Lifted FromThe Waters follows the story of Gunter Wall, a Mississippi Delta native whose life spans an extraordinary time in history, and who sees dark days and the promise of new beginnings.  His faith grows deep, like the waters that three times nearly consume him.  But life’s rich discoveries triumph for Gunter Wall who lives by one simple creed, always do the right thing.

Former Governor William Winter comments, “Lifted From The Waters is a remarkable account of one man’s heartbreaking tragedy, extraordinary courage and exemplary resilience, but in the end it is an inspiring testimonial to his personal faith.”
Ward Emling, Director of the Mississippi Film Office, also praised the book, saying, “ It is a knowing and touching voice, rich with cadences comforting and familiar, effortlessly flowing from the times and terrain marking the journey. Lifted from the Waters is a marvelous book.”

Webb worked as a book salesman and traveled around the world prior to completing his BA degree from Baylor University. With more than three decades of experience in the insurance and financial services industry, he holds the Chartered Life Underwriter professional designation, has served as president of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, Mississippi Chapter, is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table and is active in church, civic and writing organizations. Culpepper and Ronda, his wife of more than thirty years, reside in Madison, and have three children.

For over ten years Thacker Mountain Radio has produced a live, unrehearsed broadcast that features author readings and a wide array of musical performances. The free show is normally recorded and broadcast weekly from Off Square Books in Oxford,but will relocate for this special show in DMI Studio A as part of the institute’s spring fundraiser for student scholarships.

There is no charge for admission and the public is encouraged to come be a part of this entertaining event to support the Delta Music Institute.
