McDaniel and Perry perform in senior recital at Delta State

The Delta State University Department of Music presented Virginia Elizabeth McDaniel, horn, and William Eric Perry, trombone, both music education majors in their senior recital on Thursday, Dec. 2, in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center.

Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, staff accompanist and assistant professor of music assistant professor of music at Delta State, accompanied McDaniel.

McDaniel is the daughter of Barry and Virginia McDaniel of Gulfport. She studies with Dr. Mark Butler, interim chair and professor of music of Delta State.

Since entering Delta State, McDaniel has been principal horn of the Delta State Wind Ensemble and Marching Band, a member of the Delta State Woodwind Quintet and Delta Singers. She is also a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, a professional music fraternity.

Her performance included compositions by Luigi Cherubini, Franz Strauss, Marcel Poot, Arnold Cooke, and Vaclav Nelhybel.

Perry is the son of Larry and Barbara Perry of Fulton. He studies trombone with Dr. Douglas Mark, assistant professor of music at Delta State.

Since coming to Delta State, Perry has been involved with the Delta State Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Low Brass Ensemble, and Jazz Band. He is also a member of the Drumline.

His performance include compositions by Handel, White, Salzedo, and Bernstein.
