Delta State awards First and Second Diplomas

Janet Uchi JiraJanet Uchi Jira, a Delta State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a concentration in pre-medicine from Cleveland, was awarded the First Diploma during Delta State University’s Fall Commencement ceremony held Saturday, Dec. 11, inside Walter Sillers Coliseum on campus.  

The First Diploma is presented to the four-year graduating senior with the highest grade point average on a minimum of 112 hours of academic credit at Delta State.

Sonya L.  Reginelli, a Delta State University graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Greenville, and Micah Glenn Davis (both not pictured), a Delta State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Wesson, were awarded the Second Diploma presented to the two-year graduating senior with the highest grade point average on a minimum of 62 hours of academic credit at Delta State University.  

Jira, Reginelli, and Davis graduated with 4.0 grade point averages.

The awarding of the First and Second Diploma is a Delta State tradition started at the first commencement in 1928.
