Hugley to perform in senior saxophone recital

Steven Hugley Jr. The Delta State University Department of Music will present Steven Hugley Jr. in his senior saxophone recital at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 11, in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center.

Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, staff accompanist and assistant professor of music assistant professor of music at Delta State, will accompany Hugley.
 
Hugley, a senior Music Education major from Vicksburg, is the son of Steve and Rhea Ann Hugley. He is a student of with Dr. Bret Pimentel, assistant professor of woodwinds at Delta State University.  

Since arriving at Delta State in 2007, he has been a performing member of the Delta State Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Saxophone Quartet, New Music Ensemble, Marching Statesmen, Drum Line, Jazz Band, Basketball Pep Band, Delta Singers, Delta Chorale, and Chamber Singers.

He has also been selected for the Delta State Music Department’s annual Honors Recital in each of his three years at Delta State, and has won awards in multiple categories in the Mississippi Music Teachers Association’s collegiate competitions.

Hugley is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He has received honors including the Jeff Ross Capwell Scholarship, and is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a nation honor fraternity.
 
He will be performing compositions by J.S. Bach, Jindrich Feld, and Maurice Whitney.
