Robert Frost Fleming

Delta State University faculty, staff, students, family, and friends of  gathered on Thursday afternoon in the Baioni Conference Center on the campus to honor  the life and legacy of Fleming. The unique, yet common theme of the afternoon included some of Fleming’s unforgettable traits such as his style of fashion and his hesitation to embrace technology.

"Whenever I needed to communicate to our division, I’d send an email, but I always had to print one copy and walk it over to Robert’s office to make sure he read it," joked Dr. Cooper Johnson, who served as Fleming’s chair in the Division of Management, Marketing, and Business Administration.

Fleming’s daughter Megan, gave a personal testimony in saying, "The man you saw in the halls and classrooms was the same man at our dinner table."  She also recalled memories of her father picking her up from school  and watching all the other kids stare at him with fear because of the long, leather duster he was known for wearing.

Dr. Clint Wood, professor of business law at Delta State, in his closing remarks encouraged everyone in attendance to consider contributing to the Robert Frost Fleming Memorial Award.
