The Department of Music at Delta State University’s will present music educations majors, Chiquita Tryshondra Allen and Heather Bunkley in their senior recital at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center.
Allen is the daughter of Folisha Allen of Shelby, and Frank Gray of Modesto, Calf., and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Allen of Shelby.
Since entering Delta State in 2006, she has been a member of the Delta State Chorale, Delta Singers, Delta State Opera, African Drumming and Delta State Chamber Singers.
Allen will perform works of Handel, Respighi, Berlioz, Delibes, Schubert and Puccini.
Bunkley is the daughter of Eddie and Peggy Bunkley of Florence.
She is a member of the Delta State Chorale and Chamber Singers and was in the Delta State Opera for three years. She is an active member of the Gamma Zeta Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, a professional music fraternity, and a member of Grammy U.
Bunkley also sings in the First United Methodist Church’s Chancel Choir in Cleveland and is a member of Delta Choral Union, Cleveland’s community choir.
She will perform works of Stradella, Richard Strauss, Debussy, Britten, and Bernstein.
Allen and Bunkley are voice students of Dr. Teri Herron, assistant professor of music at Delta State.
The recital is free and open to the public.
