The Delta State University Delta Center for Culture and Learning recently provided an introduction to the Delta’s cultural heritage to a visiting class from the University of Florida.
The class was collecting oral histories. They presented a panel discussion on the Civil Rights Movement in collaboration with Delta State Political Science professor Arlene Sanders.
The Delta Center put the class in touch with Mrs. Bertha Burres, who they interviewed as a participant in the 1968 Poor People’s Campaign and the Mule Trail that went from Marks to Washington DC.
