For the second year running, Delta State University will present its Faculty Research and Scholarship Symposium, Monday, April 24 and Tuesday, April 25 with the Student Research Showcase scheduled for Wednesday, April 26.

An opportunity for Delta State faculty and students, alike,  to showcase their original research, scholarship, creative endeavors and community service projects, the event will begin with an opening ceremony at 1 p.m. in the Henry Jacob Conference Center of the James M. Hilpert will offer a welcome, followed by Dr. Barry Campbell, associate professor of biology, and his keynote address, “The Making of a Scientist.”

Following Campbell’s address, the poster session will commence at 2 p.m., concluding at 3 p.m.  Refreshments will be provided and faculty authors will be available at this time to discuss their work and answer questions.

On Tuesday, posters and other displays will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  The second scholarly presentation session will begin at 2 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m., thus concluding the faculty portion of the symposium. The student portion, the Student Scholarship Showcase, will be held on Wednesday, April 26.

With over 50 DSU faculty members presenting at this conference and over 75 students presenting in the Student Research Showcase, the symposium aims to further increase the awareness of the new and innovative faculty/student research and scholarship being generated at Delta State.
