Each summer for the past five years, the Delta State University Delta Center for Culture and Learning, has hosted Robertson Scholars who come from either Duke or the University of North Carolina (UNC). The scholars received full tuition and numerous academic perks.

They can choose among four locations for summer internships:  Atlanta, New Orleans, the Mississippi Delta, and Appalachian Kentucky. The Delta is consistently one of the favored locations, and this year, it was chosen by 11 Robertson Scholars. As part of their introduction to the region, the Delta Center takes them on various heritage tours, and they recently visited Clarksdale.
