| Percussion Ensemble and Steel Band |
The Department of Music at Delta State University will present its spring Percussion Ensemble and Steel Band concert Monday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bologna Performing Arts Center.
The percussion ensemble will perform traditional works for percussion ensemble by composers such as Alan Abel, Stanley Leonard, and William Cahn. The ensemble will also perform the xylophone rag “The Ragtime Drummer” featuring junior music major Brian Lindsay from Columbus.
The concert will also feature two steel bands including the Delta State Steel Band and the Wednesday Night Steel Band. These groups will perform traditional calypso, soca, rock, and popular tunes written specifically for the steel band.
