Delta State announces the establishment of scholarship

The College of Business at Delta State University will announce the establishment of the Thomas N. Sledge Commercial Aviation Endowed scholarship in memory of Sledge during a ceremony to be held Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. in the Baioni Conference Center inside Broom Hall on the campus.

 
A native of Cleveland, Sledge joined the Delta State staff as an aviation instructor in 1990, following a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force and the Mississippi Air Guard.  He became chair of the department in 1997. Sledge held a Master’s Degree in Commercial Aviation from the University of Louisiana in Monroe, and a Doctorate of Education from Delta State University. His wife, Alinda, has worked at Delta State for twenty years, five of those serving as Chair of the Social Work department. 
 
He was the son of former Senator, Nevin Sledge, and son-in-law of former Representative, Charles W. (Charlie) Capps, Jr.
 
A reception will immediately follow the ceremony. The event is open to all his friends and colleagues.
