By November 6, 2009General

Neisha Cooper at Bell Elementary is writing her first check. Mrs. Suber from State Bank & Trust instructs students on how to write a check.

The sixth grade class at B.L. Bell Elementary recently learned the importance of financial literacy, how to balance a checkbook and how to write a check.

Delta State University, through its Center for Community and Economic Development AmeriCorps*VISTA program, has partnered with State Bank & Trust to work with schools in the Cleveland School District to implement the Importance of Financial Literacy Program.

The purpose of this program is to teach students at an early age the financial tools they need to improve their spending and saving habits.
