Guest bass trombonist to present recital at Delta State

The Delta State University Department of Music will present Master Sergeant Matthew Wozniak of the US Army’s West Point Academy Band in a guest bass trombone recital Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus.   

Sergeant Wozniak will be assisted on piano by Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, assistant professor of piano at Delta State University.

The program will include a transcription of J.S. Bach’s “Suite No. 5 for Cello,” “Trilogy for Bass Trombone” by Tom Dorsett and Walter Hartley’s “Sonata Breve.”

Wozniak will also be performing Eric Ewazen’s “Concertino for Bass Trombone” Charles Small’s “Conversations for tenor and bass trombone” and “Theme and Variations on ‘Barnacle Bill, the Sailor’” by Steven Frank.
