The Delta State University Department of Music will present its fall choir concert, featuring the Chamber Singers, Chorale, and Delta Singers, Sunday, Nov. 8, at 3:30 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cleveland.

The choirs will perform a wide variety of repertoire, including music by Eric William Barnum, Johannes Brahms, Benjamin Britten, Aaron Copland, Arvo Pärt, Eric Whitacre, and much more.

The choirs under the direction of Dr. Richard Waters, director of choral activities at Delta State, will be accompanied by Delta State music faculty Dr. Mark Butler, professor of music, and Dr. Kumiko Shimizu, assistant professor of music and Christopher Winston, a sophomore music major from Daphne, Ala.

Recordings of the Delta State choirs, including their newest CD, “Every Voice in Concert Ring,” will be available for purchase before and after the concert. Donations will also be graciously accepted for the Chorale’s upcoming performance of Handel’s “Messiah” on Dec. 6, as well as a planned choir tour to Europe in May 2010.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Waters at (662) 846-4115 or e-mail rwaters@deltastate.edu.
