Breast Cancer Awareness Kick-Off Day held at Delta State

Alfreda Cowins welcomes the audience and explains the events scheduled for the month of October. October 2 is National Denim Day; Oct. 6 is Wear Pink Day. For the Delta State home football game on Oct. 24, individuals wearing pink will be admitted free.

 

 

 

Delta State University’s Center for Community and Economic Development/BEEP (Breast Education and Early-detection Project) held a Kick-off Day/ Paint the County Pink event Thursday, Oct.1, at 10 a.m. on the Delta State Quadrangle.

 
The event began with Dr. Wayne Blansett, Delta State vice president for Student Affairs, followed by Alfreda Cowins, BEEP program coordinator, a keynote speech by breast cancer survivor Tracie Griffin and the reading of a resolution by Bolivar County District 5 Supervisor Pete Roncoli, declaring October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
