Delta State’s Renaissance to present fall concert

Delta State University’s popular vocal ensemble, Renaissance will present its fall concert Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. inside the Delta and Pine Land Theatre of the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus. 

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children under 12, and free for faculty and students with proper identification. Tickets will be on sale at the Bologna Performing Arts Center box office or at the door on the night of the performance. 

The group consists of eight vocalist, five instrumentalists, two publicists, and an emcee. Vocalists include senior Ashley Brown from Grenada, junior John Brown of Grenada, junior Kristian Dambrino of Grenada, senior Michael Lipford of Coldwater, freshman Keisha McAdams of Grenada, senior Ann Marie Redditt of Cleveland, junior Hilary Rogers of Tupelo, and junior Jordan Sims of Kosciusko. Instrumentalists are sophomore Greg Cobb from Memphis, Tenn., drums; junior Ben Holley of Southaven, guitar; freshman Lea Allyn Hughes of Clarksdale, effects keyboard; junior Erik Taylor of Grenada, bass keyboard; and junior Brandi Ward of Drew, piano.  Chelsea Latham and Haley Wells, freshman from Grenada occupy the publicity positions; and Caleb Alford, a freshman from Senatobia acts as emcee.

Renaissance director, Gene Ayers offers a full night of entertainment, suggesting, “Go to the poles, vote for your favorite candidates, eat and then come to the Renaissance fall concert to make it a complete evening of entertainment. The 2006-2007 edition of Renaissance has been busy performing for high schools and civic clubs, but the campus concert is the highlight of the semester for Renaissance students.” 

During its 33 years, Renaissance has built an impressive list of accomplishments, including touring Europe nine times and the Caribbean 12 times on which they served as goodwill ambassadors for Delta State University and the state of Mississippi.  The group traveled throughout the state and the Mid-South performing at various schools, as well as social banquets.”

Renaissance is scheduled to set sail on May 13, 2007 for a seven-day cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas.  The scheduled stops include The Virgin Islands and The Bahamas.  Renaissance will perform during the cruise.
