DSU C.A.R.E.S.

DSU C.A.R.E.S is a behavioral intervention team of campus partners who proactively respond to non-emergency reports of behavioral concerns related to the well-being and academic progress of DSU students. Referrals are reviewed during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm or summer hours), and are not monitored after hours, on weekends, or during official University holidays (please see Academic Calendar – Delta State University).

Please note that due to required compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the person making the referral may not receive additional information regarding the status of the referral, but will receive a notification of receipt of the report.

To make a report, please review the areas below that apply to your concern, then submit the report:

Academic Difficulty: An S.O.S. Alert

The Stay Okra Strong (S.O.S.) early alert is a system to identify and assist academically at-risk students through organized outreach. Faculty, staff, and students may refer a student by completing the S.O.S. form. Once the form is submitted, the Student Success team is alerted and follows-up with next steps.

Campus Counseling (Non-Emergency)

This form is used to report “non-emergency” behavioral, emotional and/or mental health concerns regarding DSU students. If you have questions regarding campus counseling services, please contact us at counselingandtesting@deltastate.edu or call us at (662) 846-4690.

Non-Academic Grievance

This form allows students to formally question the application of any University regulation, rule, policy, requirement or procedure, not otherwise covered by a more specific policy or procedure. For questions about this form or policy, please contact the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Student Code of Conduct

This form provides an avenue for all faculty, staff, and students to report non-emergency incidents for review that are percieved to have violated the Student Code of Conduct. If you have any questions regarding any incident please contact Tarnisha Smith, Director of Student Life via email at tsmith@deltastate.edu, or by stopping by Suite #200 of the H.L. Nowell Union.

Title IX Violations

If you’re not in immediate danger and have been sexually harassed or violated or feel that you have been and would like to ask questions regarding your experience, please contact the University’s Title IX Coordinator at titleix@deltastate.edu. The coordinator will advise you of your rights, the support systems, and resources available to you, as well as the investigation protocols.
