Facebook Changes Requirements

Facebook originally began as an online social networking site for college students and required that every user have a university email account that ended with a .edu extension. Changes have been made over the last few years to allow high school students to create accounts, but the latest move by Facebook has created additional controversy for the already embattled website. In order to compete with the popularity of other sites such as MySpace, Facebook has made the decision to open the social network to anyone with an email account. This move was scheduled to occur September 12, but with the recent controversy over the News Feed feature discussed in last week's newsletter, Facebook has decided to delay the change for a few weeks. This move creates additional security concerns for Facebook users. For more information see this Vnunet Article .
