Apple Releases Critical iPhone Update

Apple has released iPhone OS 3.0 to address multiple vulnerabilities across many packages. Exploitation of these vulnerabilities may allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code, cause a denial-of-service condition, obtain sensitive information, bypass security restrictions, or conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

iPhone users are encouraged to review Apple article HT3639 and upgrade to iPhone OS 3.0 to help mitigate the risks.

  Where's The Wireless Access?

The answer to that would be, "very wide spread throughout campus".  Check out the official, campus, wireless map for graphical representations of wireless coverage.  A printable version of the map can be accessed here.

If you are having guests on campus that will need wireless access, OIT can provide them with guest access.  Also, if you have an iPod Touch or any other wifi enabled handheld device and would like to connect to DSU's wireless network, you will need to register your device with our office.  This can be done via our online Network Device Registration page.

  PC Best Practices 101

Protecting your computer can sometimes seem like a full time job with no benefits.  There just isn’t time to guard your PC at all times, which is why these helpful tools and tidbits will aide you in the effort and help to keep your PC protected while you’re working at it or away from it:

1. Lock your computer when you are away from it.  (To do this, hold down the Windows Key and the ‘L’ Key)

2. Run anti-virus scans daily

3. Update anti-virus software daily

4. Back up all of your data regularly

5. Don't open emails that you suspect are not true in nature
