Don't
Let This Be You!
The article below tells the story of a 2 year
phishing/malware operation in which millions of
financial records and data were cached for, what is
believed to be, continuous illegal activity. With
Delta State University recently being the target of
several phishing scams, it is critical that no
information is returned when such information is
requested. Remember, the Office of Information
Technology and no financial institution will ever
request login credentials via email. For more
information on Phishing and identity theft, refer to
our past newsletters
here.

A Huge Cache of Stolen Financial Data
"On Friday morning, the RSA FraudAction Research Lab
reported it had uncovered a digital cache of
more than a half million credit card numbers and
online bank account logins and passwords that have
been acquired in the last two-and-a-half years by
what the researchers believe is a Russian online
gang....In the last six months alone it has
compromised stolen login credential of more than
100,000 bank accounts, the researchers noted."

OkraMail
Mailbox Management
As the semester draws close to it's end, university,
faculty, and student communication kicks into high
gear. With many of these communications being sent
via email, it is critical for student OkraMail
accounts to be managed properly to assure mail
delivery. Remember, when items are delete items
within OkraMail, they still count towards the
overall mailbox limit (10MB). To permanently delete
these items, students must choose to “empty” their
deleted items folder in order to free up that space
in their mailbox. For assistance, student's may
contact the OIT Help Desk @4444 or refer to the
OkraMail FAQ Page.

Question: I'm a member of a student organization on
campus. How can my organization establish a
university web page?
Student organizations are permitted to have a
university web page with approval of official
university sponsors and advisors. The University
will provide links, through the “Student Services”
page, to student organizations registered with the
Student Affairs Division. Each organization must
identify a personal Web liaison (i.e. Information
Provider) who will be responsible for the content of
material published on the Web. To obtain a
publishing account, the Web liaison must complete an
Information Provider Contract. For more details on
web policies, click
