University of Montevallo TAC visits DSU
OIT will be hosting the Technology Governance Council (TAC) from
Montevallo University February 23 and 24th. The TAC will
be meeting with members of the DSU Information Technology Governance
Committee (ITGC) to hold the first of what we hope will be exchange
opportunities between the two universities. We welcome this group
to the campus and look forward to more exchange opportunities in the
future!

DSU Online Services Pin & Blackboard Password = One and The
Same
Did you know that when
resetting your DSU Online Services PIN, this also resets your
Blackboard password? Please allow at least an hour for the change
to reflect in Blackboard and then try your new PIN/password.
Important Tip: When Changing your changing your PIN please remember
to limit it to no more than six characters. DSU Online Services
will not recognize a password longer than six characters in length!!

News Update!
Recession and Online Education
Want your teaching career to be more relevant in a recession? Review
the Sloan findings in Steve Kolowich's article "Recession
May Drive More Adult Students to take Online Courses" in "The
Chronicle of Higher Education". For additional information on
the topic, visit "The
Recession and Your Education".
Professor Podcast Project
THE OIT-ELN is collecting and publishing exemplary faculty podcasts.
The repository is an online space for faculty to share ideas about
their disciplines as well as their techniques for developing and
disseminating audio podcasts. Dr. Teri Herron is DSU's first
professor to join the project fray; you can read about and listen to
her podcast, "Indigenous Music in Early America," at
the ELN site.. If you have a
podcast that you would like to share with others in such a forum,
please send your MP3 file with description to
Susan Hines.

Who
Really Owns your Facebook Info?
Do you have a Facebook page?
Does your company have a Facebook page? Do you know who owns the
data, photos, and information that you post on this site or other
social networking sites? Are you sure? These questions have
been posed over the past week by millions of Facebook account
holders. Why? Facebook
quietly made changes to their terms of use agreement which made
it unclear as to who officially owns the right of all Facebook
content. After the outrage from Facebook members, Facebook changed
the policy again stating they would study it further. Read more
here.

How do I
access the campus network from my Wireless device, cell phone, or
Game console?
It's simple! Visit the
DSU Device Registration Page and
enter the requested information. You will need the MAC address for
your device to register. If you are unable to find your MAC-Address,
please refer to your product manual or contact the manufacturer of
your device.
Once registered, OIT will contact you via email once your device has
been registered with the campus network.
