Instructure Canvas is the university’s learning management system, or LMS. The cloud-based software is commonly referred to as Canvas. Delta State adopted the Canvas platform in Summer 2013. It is the virtual space where instructors place course content for online delivery.

Canvas is the LMS of choice at a diversity of higher education institutions across the country including Michigan, Baylor, Harvard, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Penn State. Whether a Delta State course is fully online, blended, or face-to-face, the tools in Canvas are well-suited to enhance teaching and support learning needs.

Before You Begin

Check your browser. Canvas runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android. Canvas will support the last two versions of every browser release. The Office of Information Technology strongly recommends that you use the latest version of the Mozilla Firefox browser for best results. You will also need the latest version of Flash to record and view multimedia files.

OIT strongly advises against using Chrome and Edge to access Canvas.

To check your browser and Flash, visit WhatIsMyBrowser.com for an immediate system analysis.
