Delta Diplomat Job Description

Delta Diplomats work with new and prospective students at Delta State University in support of the initiatives of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. As student staff members in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Diplomats perform the following tasks:

  • Represent the University to numerous outside entities including prospective students and their families, local school groups, new students, alumni, board of trust members, donors, and various other entities.
  • Work at Registration Days, Orientation, Preview Days and other Enrollment and Recruitment events.
  • Serve as mentors to new students both through leading Orientation groups and in assigned mentor groups
  • Assist all support services offices at Delta State University in delivering a smooth transition for new students from high school or the other institutions they have come from
  • Act as a link for new students, referring students to appropriate campus resources as needed
  • Give campus tours to prospective students, families, and guests of the University
  • Aid the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in administrative tasks
  • Other duties as assigned by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions

Delta Diplomat Requirements:

  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0; 3.5 cum GPA preferred
  • Minimum of 24 credit hours completed as of the end of the current semester
  • Academic and social role model – a check of GPA and Student Conduct records will occur
  • Must be available for:
    • Delta Diplomat Training – August 7-9, 2022
    • Orientation – August 10-14, 2022
  • Available to work 4 hours per week in a combination of the following:
    • Participation with an assigned mentor group
    • Lead tours to prospective families or student groups
    • Administrative work in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
  • Assist with special events hosted by the Office of Admissions representing the University
  • Support the mission and goals of Delta State University and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions

Delta Diplomat Compensation:

  • $500/semester stipend for Fall & Spring
