International Blues Scholars Program

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program Application

The International Blues Scholars Program is an online academic certificate program available to students all over the world. Students may register for up to 12 hours of graduate or undergraduate level courses. Those completing all 12 hours will receive a Certificate of Completion from Delta State University.

Want to apply? Submit the following items:

  • Apply to DSU Graduate School as a ‘Non-Degree Seeking’ student. Complete the application here: Int. Cert. on Blues – GRADUATE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION (the second page requires a check mark at the “Non-Degree” box under program/major. If you are in the June workshop, check “Summer I” and for the July workshop, check “Summer II” on first page) .
  • A check for $30.00 made out to Delta State University must accompany the application
  • Submit one of the following proofs of undergraduate education:
    • a copy of your undergraduate transcript
    • a copy of your four-year diploma
    • a copy of your teaching certificate
  • Submit a copy of your professional resume
  • Complete the Non-Degree Form found here: Non Degree Form – please list which course(s) you intend to complete:
    • Courses for the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate
      • Summer I (May 31-June 30)
        • SOC 592: Sociology of the Blues
        • HIS 651: Modern American History: History of the 20th Century South
      • Summer II (July 5-August 4)
        • Geography of the South and the Blues (course prefix and number TBD)
        • Deconstructing the Twelve-Bar Blues (course prefix and number TBD)

Once you’ve collected all items above, your packet to the DSU at the address given on page 2 of the application (Office of Graduate & Continuing Studies), and notify Lee Aylward at laylward@deltastate.edu that you have completed your application. Lee will make sure you are on the course roster for the courses listed on the Non-Degree Form.

Once your completed packet is received and processed by the Office of Graduate & Continuing Studies, you will be notified of admission, enrollment, and student account information.

You will be able to receive an official transcript for your own use at any time following the workshop. You must be accepted to the International Blues Scholars Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program to enroll in this class and receive credit.
