Microsoft Exchange 2010 FAQ
Question: My Outlook email client is asking for a password.
Answer: Enter your password (the same password you use to login to your computer each morning) to establish a connection to the server. I if this does not work, completely close down your Outlook email client, including any open emails or calendar invites, and then reopen your Microsoft Outlook application. Mail should be in your inbox. If not, please give us a call so we can come by your office or work with you over the phone.
Question: My Outlook client does not appear to be receiving email.
Answer: Look in the lower right hand corner of your Microsoft Outlook client to see if it says “connected to Microsoft Exchange”. If you see “disconnected”, please close your Outlook client completely and then restart Outlook. The disconnected option indicates that you are not connected to the mail server. Once the “disconnected” changes to read “connected to Microsoft Exchange”, you should see your mail. If not, please give us a call so we can come by your office or work with you over the phone.
Question: When I try to connect to Webmail I get an error message.
Answer: You can always visit Delta States homepage at www.deltastate.edu and then select myDSU from the top right of the DSU homepage. Scroll down and select Outlook Web. You can set the location as a favorite in your browser for quick access. If you run into a challenge, please give us a call so we can come by your office or work with you over the phone.
Question: My Webmail looks different.
Answer: The new 2010 webmail has a new appearance as well as many new features that will provide much improved function for those using webmail. Question: I have a shortcut on my computer desktop that links to webmail that is no longer working.
Answer: The link that you previously used needs to be recreated. You can create a new link by using https://webmail.deltastate.edu or contact OIT to setup a new link for you.
Question: My favorites link to webmail in Internet Explorer (or other web browser) is no longer working.
Answer: The link in your favorites needs to be recreated. You can create a new favorites link by using https://webmail.deltastate.edu or contact OIT to setup a new favorites link for you.
