Supported Browsers

Because it’s built using web standards, Canvas runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, or any other device with a modern web browser.

The Office of Information Technology strongly recommends that faculty and students use the latest version of the Mozilla Firefox browser for best results. OIT advises students against using Chrome and Edge for Canvas.

As of May 2016, we support the most recent versions of Flash and popular web browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 10 and 11
  • Safari 8 and 9
  • Firefox 46 and up (Extended Releases are not supported)
  • Flash plugin 10 and 11 (for audio/video recording or viewing feature or upload files)
  • Respondus Lockdown Browser (supporting the latest system requirements)

Some supported browsers may still produce a banner stating Your browser does not meet the minimum requirements for Canvas. If you have upgraded your browser but you are still seeing the warning banner, try logging out of Canvas and deleting your browser cookies. Learn how to clear your cache on a Mac or a PC.
